Zoa Ngoyene Mireille
One Woman. One Meal. One Rising Hope.

Zoa is a French-speaking Cameroonian woman in Regina who has known homelessness firsthand — and instead of giving up, she is pouring her strength into a Christmas Solidarity Meal for 250 people who are where she once was: hungry, isolated, and trying to survive another winter night.

“You give them something to eat.” (Matthew 14:16)

About Zoa

From Surviving the Streets to Serving Others

There was a season when Zoa had no house to decorate, no table to set, no warm place to return to at night. She knows what it feels like to be invisible in a city that keeps moving — to watch lights in the windows and wonder if anyone remembers you exist.

As a French-speaking Cameroonian woman far from home, she faced language barriers, cultural shock, isolation, and the daily grind of survival. But even in the hardest moments, something stayed alive in her: a fierce belief that no one should have to eat alone in the cold.

With the support of Refuge volunteers, YWCA Regina, and compassionate people around her, Zoa is rebuilding her life. And as she rises, she is reaching back to lift others with her.

Christmas Solidarity Meal

250 Plates of Warmth, Flavor, and Dignity

This Christmas, Zoa is helping organize a Solidarity Meal for 250 people in Regina who are experiencing homelessness, loneliness, or deep hardship. The meal blends:

  • Fresh local ingredients from Saskatchewan
  • Cameroonian and African-inspired flavors
  • Love, respect, and the time to listen

Each plate includes hot beef broth, grilled chicken, potatoes, vegetables, salad, and something more you can’t see: a moment of human connection in a season that can feel painfully empty.

Each solidarity meal costs about $39.24 CAD. Your donation helps cover food, preparation, serving, and follow-up support for people who are often forgotten once the holidays are over.

Why it matters

Beyond Wounds and Solitude

Homelessness is not just the absence of a roof. It is the absence of safety, of belonging, of being called by your name. Zoa’s Christmas Solidarity Meal is a small but powerful act of resistance against that emptiness.

  • Nourish bodies with real, fresh food.
  • Recognize hidden pain: visible and invisible wounds, grief, isolation.
  • Cultivate solidarity, love, and kindness across cultures.
  • Build community where people feel seen and welcomed.
  • Celebrate resilience and the courage it takes just to keep going.

When you support this project, you aren’t just helping Zoa survive — you are helping her live out her calling: a woman who once had nothing, now helping others receive something beautiful.
